When infections lead to death, it typically occurs anywhere from 2-10 days after symptoms occur.

From the time of the mosquito bite, the incubation period can be anywhere from 4 to 10 days.

Is There A Vaccine For EEE?

No, the only way to completely avoid EEE is to avoid mosquito bites.

How Do I Avoid Mosquito Bites?

Using protective clothing and repellents combined with avoiding areas with high mosquito activity and minimizing exposure to highly active times of the day. Mosquitoes that carry EEE are most active early in the morning and later in the evenings.

Is There A Medical Test For EEE?

Yes, a health care provider will use symptoms for initial diagnosis and confirm with laboratory diagnosis. The lab tests blood or spinal fluid for the presence of virus antibodies.
