Green Everywhere

I grew up in the south and became accustomed to seeing think dense green tree’s everywhere.   When I found out I’d be moving to Minnesota one of the things I knew I’d surely miss would be thick green trees. Needless to say, I have since learned better. Oakdale has amazing trees that do so much for this great city.

Green Threat

There is a force out to take our beautiful tree’s and damage them beyond recognition… Japanese Beetles! These pests know how to take a great thing and ruin it in little to no time; which is pretty much the way they were designed. They know that once they make an appearance they only have a short time to do their worst to your landscape. Adults emerge from the ground and begin feeding on plants in June. Activity is most intense over a 4 to 6 week period beginning in late June, after which the beetles gradually die off. Individual beetles live about 30 to 45 days.

Who Invited the Japanese Beetles?

Well, technically we did. Japanese beetles were first found in this country in 1916, after being accidentally introduced into New Jersey. Until that time, this insect was known to occur only in Japan where it is not a major pest. It is believed that the Japanese Beetle larvae came into the area with a shipment of iris bulbs from Japan sometime before 1912 when commodities entering the U.S. started being inspected.

Un-inviting an Invited Guest

How do you un-invite an invited guest? That’s the easy part. You find someone that does not mind doing the dirty work and they take care of the problem for you, such as your friends at Rove Pest Control! This is the thing we LOVE doing! It’s practically all we do. We specialize in un-inviting the unwanted guests. Call us today and we will come out for a free inspection.
