Rochester Cockraoch Control

When enjoying nature in Essex or Allendale parks, most of us are considering the birds, squirrels, and possibly some brave deer roaming around us. Very few of us consider the fact that we may be sharing that park environment with cockroaches. I think the most amazing thing is that there may be more than one cockroach species hanging out in abundance in different parts of the park. When we consider that not all roaches are the typical ones we think of from the movies and from the south, we start to realize that Rochester roach control is an important part of our pest defense strategy.

Which Cockroaches?

While I wouldn’t be overly surprised if someone reported an American cockroach appearance in Rochester, I expect to hear about the following roaches:

  • German cockroaches – these relatively small roaches love to feed on grease and inhabit warm temperatures. Some key Rochester roach control for these includes sanitation including degreasing and climate control.
  • Brown banded roaches – are quite different in appearance from German cockroaches as far as color patterns are concerned, but the environments are similar. Rochester cockroach control for the brown banded variety will focus on cabinets and storage areas, especially in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Australian cockroach – as odd as it may be that we are more likely to encounter Australian roaches than American roaches, such is the case. Rochester roach control for these insects is as simple as showing them back outside since they probably rode inside on a potted plant
  • Woods roaches – If the name doesn’t give it away, they love to live in the thick tree areas. They are also attracted to light which will guide them indoors quite often. Rochester cockroach control in this situation may include exclusion and lighting alterations.

Cockroach Time

Unlike many insects, most of the roaches we deal with as a structural pest are actively reproducing and invading our food areas year-round. Whether you have a business that is involved with food production or serving or simply have a break room, you should have monitoring as the most basic element of Rochester roach control. For those of us just worried about our homes, we should at least have the same level of basic monitoring. In multifamily housing, roaches may travel easily from unit to unit. In stand-alone structures, cockroaches may fly in from the woods or catch a ride on some groceries or something shipped to our home.
