We have over 1,000 acres of parkland in Golden Valley. With miles of trails covering 57 acres, the General Mills Nature Area is a perfect place to go for a nice relaxing walk. It’s also a good place for bird watching.
Strange that few people engage in bug watching. We do. We are professional bug watchers. We watch go. We watch until the ants, cockroaches, spiders, and other crawly things (like mice) leave your home for good.
Spiders and Other Bugs
In Minnesota, we have a lot of spiders. Most are content to live their lives outside but many like our homes. Some of these are poisonous; and that just won’t do.
First off is the common sac spider. It’s that banana colored one that invades Golden Valley homes each year. Though not deadly, its bite can cause swelling and ulcerated sores. Second is the black widow. Her venom contains a neurotoxin that can cause headaches, dizziness, prolific sweating, shortness of breath, and in some cases death.
The last is the brown recluse. Its bite causes painful skin ulcers and tissue death. Luckily, the brown recluse is rare this far north. Only one has ever been found in Minnesota and that was up in Lake County. Though Lake County is four hundred miles away, you should still be wearing gloves when you move any woodpiles.
Spiders don’t make a living by biting people, they live on bugs. But they aren’t very good at it. They won’t rid your home of other bugs. If you have spiders in your home, it may mean they have plenty to eat. Time to rid your home of spiders and their dinner. A bug-free home will help solve your spider problem.
There is a fantastic solution to anyone’s spider problem. Rove Pest Control has local, certified pesticide applicators that know the best chemicals and all the hiding places of spiders and all of your other pests. You can watch as the spiders and bugs leave your home. (Not really. They will be gone before you can blink) Now you can go out and enjoy nature. If you see any spiders or bugs on your walk, you can be happy to know they are home where they belong.
