Don’t Let Tulsa Spiders Use Your Bathroom

Who would want to kill a spider? Didn’t you read the book or see the movie Charlotte’s Web? Spiders may be amazing and useful creatures, important to the ecology even, but that doesn’t mean they belong in your home in Tulsa. Some people think that keeping a pet spider in the bathroom is ok. It’s just one spider, right? No.

Hide and Seek

Spiders aren’t exactly polite. If you let one in, they go ahead invite all their friends. They might even decide to start a brand new family right in your house. Before you know it, every sock you inadvertently leave on the floor will have a spider underneath it by morning; and you will need to start checking your clothing before you get dressed and use a stick to pick up any towel that falls off the rack.

Once you realize that some spiders common to the Tulsa area like the brown recluse or black widow can inflict horrible pain and, if you are in a weakened condition, even cause death, you might want to rethink your spider policy.

You can tell a brown recluse by the violin shaped marking on its back. Brown recluse spiders aren’t vicious. They don’t hunt you down and attack. Most brown recluse bites take place when you put on clothing where a brown recluse happens to be relaxing. Hope that makes you feel better. When you get bit by a brown recluse, immediately apply ice to the bite then head to the hospital. If you can, have a brave soul in your house capture the spider in a clear container and bring it to the hospital.

Black widows are also very poisonous. Their bite requires medical attention. They are black and usually marked with a red hourglass marking on their back; and just to confuse you, sometimes they don’t have any markings at all. The female is four to five times more poisonous than the male. Besides, the male is so busy trying to get laid (to rest) by the female that they usually won’t bother you.

Sweet Dreams

Children books aside, most stories and movies about spiders are in the horror genre, and rightfully so. Spiders are the stars of many nightmares, especially when you wake up at night and feel something crawling on your arm or across your face.

Our feeling, one spider blatantly setting up house in your bathroom, closet, or your favorite cashmere sweater is usually just the tip of the iceberg. We can help rid your home of these frightful pests. There is no need to be afraid in your own home.
